A new interactive Stanford Web site feature, "How Everyday Things Are Made," explains all that, and also demonstrates common manufacturing techni...ues such as welding, molding and forging.

The Web feature, which includes about four hours of video footage highlighting more than 40 products and processes, aims to educate the general public about manufacturing and to attract young people to the industry, whose popularity has suffered because of increased interest in high-tech fields...
