Northern California Gas Prices Fall, Despite Summer-Driving Demand.

Aug. 13--So much for the so-called summer driving effect. Gas prices in Northern California fell by a nickel on average between July and August, according to the latest numbers released by the California State Automobile Association.

Although the AAA says the cost of gas usually rises 10 to 15 cents during the summer, gas prices in Northern California have fallen for the second straight year between July and August. Last year, the average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell from $1.68 to $1.65. This year, the average fell from $1.89 to $1.84.
