North Carolina Doctors' Group Lobbies for Health Insurance Reform.

Aug. 13--Dr. Daniel T. Young, a retired professor of medicine from UNC-Chapel Hill, said he has signed on to the proposal for universal health insurance after he spent countless hours wrangling with insurance companies to cover procedures for patients in his cardiology practice.

Young said 1.1 million North Carolinians have no health insurance and an additional 1 million are under insured. He said even those who are insured are at the mercy of their carriers to grant coverage for procedures.
