Computer Associates Settles with Utah Firm in Software License Dispute.

Aug. 13--Computer Associates International, perhaps seeking to focus more on a federal probe into its practices, on Tuesday announced a $40 million settlement with Lindon-based Center 7 and Canopy Group, its majority owner.
The settlement, expected to soon win U.S. District Court approval, would end a software-licensing dispute that prompted Center 7 and Canopy, a technology investment firm, to sue the world's fifth-largest software company in April 2001.
A nondisclosure agreement is part of the settlement, and prevented either party from addressing whether the deal amounted to an admission of guilt by Computer Associates (CA) -- or even whether Canopy saw the...
