Proposed Tax Opponents in Orange County, Fla., Doubt Legality of Fund-Raiser.

Aug. 13--Opponents of Orange County's proposed transportation tax are challenging the legality of a campaign fund-raiser Tuesday night by area home builders.

The Mobility 20/20 reception held by the Home Builders Association of Metro Florida's political interest committee raised campaign money to persuade voters to approve a half-cent sales tax on the Oct. 7 ballot. The tax would raise $2.6 billion to pay for highway, street and transit works.

Ax the Tax, the anti-tax political committee led by Doug Guetzloe, filed a complaint with the Florida Elections Committee charging that the committee failed to properly spell out where the money would go.
