FAA Gives Salina, Kan., Airport $2.416 Million for Runway Renovation.

Aug. 16--Salina Airport Authority board members Friday accepted a $2.416 million Federal Aviation Administration grant to rehabilitate the municipal airport's primary runway.

That means local taxpayers will shoulder 13 percent of the project, said Tim Rogers executive director of the airport authority, which was gearing for a 15-percent local match.

Those positive numbers are thanks to the "dramatic" savings from the low bid from the Salina branch of APAC Kansas Inc. Shears Division.
