Well-Intended Computer Worm Slows Asian Networks.

Aug. 19--Nachi is a worm with a heart of gold, but in the end it is still a worm.
A new computer worm, called Nachi or MSBlast.D, spread ...uickly and slowed down computer networks yesterday, hitting Japan especially hard, but not causing as much damage as the Blaster worm that attacked last week.
Unlike the Blaster worm, which caused some Windows computer systems to restart repeatedly and exhibit other bizarre behavior, Nachi seemed to have good intentions. The worm, a piece of software designed to replicate itself over a network, was programmed to remove Blaster from computer systems and install a protective patch.
