Frito-Lay Aims to Take a Bite of Pringles' Sales with New Stax Line.

Aug. 19--PLANO, Texas-Plano-based Frito-Lay Inc. is canning its Lay's potato chips brand.
Chip-lovers can now get their Lay's in the traditional bag or in a new cardboard can, a la Procter & Gamble's Pringles brand.
With its Lay's Stax line, which was introduced Monday, Frito-Lay hopes to take a bite out of Pringles' market share, company spokesman Charles Nicolas says.
"It's an untapped snack segment for Frito-Lay, and with our snack expertise we will take a slice from this potato, too," he said.
