General Dynamics to Shut DeLand, Fla., Plant, Move Jobs to North Carolina.

Aug. 21--DELAND, Fla.--The men and women in the General Dynamics parking lot talked ...uietly in small groups Wednesday afternoon. The news had not yet settled that virtually all their jobs would be gone in less than a year, 320 of them to be moved to a new plant planned for Charlotte, N.C.

General Dynamics, the defense contractor with more than $15 billion in estimated revenues, announced the move Wednesday morning.

None of the employees wanted their names used, but privately they said they had seen it coming a year ago when the company ac...uired Intellitec, now part of General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products.
