Aug. 27--PERDUE HIRES TWO FOR RACE: Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue has hired a political consultant to oversee her re-election bid -- and perhaps oversee an effort to gain the Executive Mansion in 2008.
She has brought in Mark Farinella, based in Florida, to be general campaign consultant. Farinella was chief of staff and campaign manager for the late governor of Missouri, Mel Carnahan. Last year, he was a consultant to the Senate campaign of Erskine Bowles.
"I will help set up a campaign apparatus and help them understand who their targets are and what issues they might want to be addressing," said Farinella, who also is a policy adviser.
