Aug. 28--Colleen Conant, fresh out of college with a degree in music, headed to Stuart, Fla., in 1970 at the re...uest of an aunt who had recently lost her husband.

The 22-year-old's dream of becoming a concert pianist wasn't paying the bills, and when her aunt, a retired reporter, offered to introduce her to the editor at The Stuart News, Conant said yes.

Turns out, a general assignment position was available. A career spanning 33 years was born.
