Comcast to Offer HDTV Channels to Connecticut Subscribers.

Aug. 28--Comcast Cable, the state's largest cable television service, said Wednesday that it is now offering as many as five channels of high-definition TV broadcasts to customers willing to pay an extra $2 a month beyond their regular subscription charges.

The stations included in the HDTV package include CPTV (PBS), WVIT Channel 30 (NBC), ESPN, HBO and Showtime.

Subscribers to the new service will need an HDTV cable converter box and a special HDTV-ready television set capable of displaying the highly detailed pictures broadcast through the Comcast system.

There is currently no installation charge for Comcast's HDTV service.
