Missouri University Head Answers Questions about Maryville University Merger.

Aug. 29--MARYVILLE, Mo.--Over the past year, a drought in northwest Missouri has left the ground parched and crops withered. Yesterday, University of Missouri President Elson Floyd paid the region a visit to assuage fears that access to higher education will similarly dry up if Northwest Missouri State University joins the UM system.
Visiting Maryville for the fifth time in eight months, Floyd spoke to civic leaders about the proposed merger between the four-campus UM system and Northwest, which is located in Nodaway County. The idea first became public in April but failed to gain approval before the legislature adjourned in May.
