Senate Approves Energy Bill; Negotiations Ahead on Divisive Issues.

Aug. 1--WASHINGTON--The fight over the energy bill in the Senate this week is one of the most bitter, most divisive Republican vs. Democrat battles the political world will see this year, despite Senate passage Thursday of energy legislation.

"There's no better issue for defining Republicans and Democrats," said Angela Ledford, director of Clear the Air, an environmental group.
