Officials Mull Reimbursing University of North Dakota for Flood-Related Work.

Aug. 5--Federal emergency officials are mulling over whether to reimburse UND for 1997 flood-related repairs and other expenses totaling more than $717,000.

Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., says the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which recently was rolled into the newly created U.S. Department of Homeland Security, promised him last fall that the agency would work with UND to address the remaining costs from the flood.

Conrad said that now nine months after that promise was made, FEMA hasn't resolved the claims or provided a response as to why the agency won't reimburse the university.
