Former Bidder for Buckeye Steel Could Become Its Rival.

Sep. 3--Ohio Castings Co., which was outbid after being created to buy the assets of the former Buckeye Steel Castings, might ac...uire a Northeast Ohio foundry that would compete with the reopened Columbus plant.
Ohio Castings is deciding whether to buy the closed American Steel Foundries plant in Alliance. It would make many of the same railroad-car components as Columbus Steel Castings, which restarted the Buckeye Steel plant in March.
There should be enough business for both foundries in the short term, but competition will intensify if demand falls in the cyclical rail-car industry, said Donal H. Malenick, chief executive of Columbus Steel....
