Sep. 4--WASHINGTON--NASA administrator Sean O'Keefe declined to specify cost or timeframe for returning the space shuttle to flight when pressed by senators during a congressional hearing on Wednesday.
According to O'Keefe, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration now is working on a plan to implement the recommendations of an independent review board that investigated the shuttle Columbia accident. Exactly how the agency implements the recommendations will determine when the shuttle flies again and at what cost.
"It turns on which options we select," O'Keefe said. "As we work through this . . . the costs will become clearer."
