Lieberman, Dean Take Off Gloves as Foreign Policy Dominates Democratic Debate.

Sep. 10--BALTIMORE--A Democratic presidential debate billed as a chance to discuss issues of special concern to minority voters instead became a protest-marred affair highlighted by a brief but lively brawl over Middle East policy between Joe Lieberman and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean.

There was plenty of serious talk about issues the Congressional Black Caucus, the debate's sponsors, sought to spotlight. But what will be remembered most was Lieberman accusing Dean of turning his back on Israel, and Dean saying Lieberman was demagoguing the issue.
