Sep. 12--Who belongs on the Top 10 list of the greatest entrepreneurs in American history and in what order?

Baylor University management professor Blaine McCormick posed that question to business historians across the country, and the ballots are in.

Henry Ford is Numero Uno in the hearts of the 58 authoritative respondents. The man who turned America into a nation of drivers won by a 40 percent margin over No. 2 Bill Gates, the only living soul in the Top 10.

John D. Rockefeller, the nation's first billionaire, came in third.

Scoring was the total votes weighted by ranking order. A first place selection, for example, counted 10 points....
