BAE Systems Denies Sex, Bribery Allegations.

Sep. 12--Sex and bribery allegations at BAE Systems are threatening to damage the defence group's long-standing desire to merge with a large US rival, most recently tipped as aerospace giant Boeing.

Lurid claims that BAE operated a UKpound 20 million slush fund to sweeten Saudi officials connected to a UKpound 2 billion-a-year warships and aircraft contract have raised eyebrows in the US, where bribes are prohibited under its Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

An official from a US defence company said: "It is a reasonable hypothesis that some in the US will look askance on the allegations."
