Thailand Officials Attempt to Boost Construction Industry.

Sep. 13--The government is attempting to give a much needed boost to the construction industry through the development of a plan to upgrade work quality and standards through the use of more advanced technology

The plan, aimed to encourage Thai contractors to bid on construction contracts abroad, calls for the government to set up an independent body to direct the construction industry, according to Visuth Chovichien, a lecturer with Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Engineering.

Mr. Visuth served on the panel that drafted the plan.
