Lockheed Martin to Manage Pittsburgh Airport Project.

Sep. 16--The Orlando office of Lockheed Martin Distribution Technologies will oversee an $8.8 million contract to improve the baggage bomb-detection system at Pittsburgh International Airport.

The job will take about a year. It will move baggage-scanning equipment in passenger waiting areas of the airport terminal to locations behind the check-in counters.

Ed Melville, Lockheed manager for material handling solutions, said the overhaul also will improve the efficiency and speed of the equipment, which was installed by the federal Transportation Security Administration after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
