Waco, Texas, University Regent Resigns, Citing Conflict of Interest.

Sep. 19--A Baylor University regent whose brother is the school's chief financial officer resigned Thursday, citing conflict-of-interest guidelines on board appointments.

Duane Brooks, pastor of the Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, has served on the Baylor board since 2000, a month after his brother David became Baylor's chief financial officer.

The Baptist General Convention of Texas, which picks a fourth of the Baylor board, nominated the pastor as a regent in 1999 and re-appointed him last November.
