Sep. 19--DISCORD IN CORDES FOR HOGG: Cordes, in south-west France, should be an entertaining place to be in the next few weeks. It is the village where Reuters chairman Sir Christopher Hogg has an oft-visited hideaway and so, by chance, does Barry Simpson, author of Breaking News: How The Wheels Came Off At Reuters. The book is not flattering about Hogg. His index listing alone gives a flavour of what Simpson and co-author Brian Mooney -- both ex-Reuters men -- think of him: "Hogg, Sir Christopher," it reads, "ignores consultants 138, joins Reuters 17, law suits 67, mistakes/failures 41, 143, 167, 170-2, 191, 193-4, 200" Simpson, however, is not expecting fisticuffs in the local patisserie....
