Congress Clears Defense Plan Including Billions for Connecticut Contractors.

Sep. 26--WASHINGTON--Congress has approved and sent to the president a $368 billion defense spending plan for 2004 that includes billions of dollars for weapons systems critical to Connecticut contractors and their workers.

The Senate acted on the Pentagon budget Thursday afternoon, approving the conference report 95-0 with little debate. The House approved the measure Wednesday.

Lawmakers made few significant changes to the wartime spending plan the Bush administration offered earlier this year. The budget does not include the $65.6 billion the administration has requested to pay for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. That measure is being...
