BAE Systems to Sell Hawk Jet Trainers to India.

Sep. 4--Defence giant BAE Systems pulled off a UKpound 800 million-plus deal to sell 66 of its Hawk jet trainers to India after almost 20 years of talks. The deal is also a boost for Rolls-Royce.
BAE -- which first opened negotiations in the late 1980s -- said the contract, and another to sell 20 jets to the Ministry of Defence, will safeguard 2,200 jobs at its Brough plant on Humberside.
Last year, 450 workers were put on notice that they would be axed if no more orders were forthcoming.
The deal also extends the life of the last solely UK-manufactured aircraft.
