Five Regents of Waco, Texas, University Call for President's Firing.

Sep. 9--Five Baylor University regents on Monday sought the firing of university President Robert Sloan, saying the troubled school needs a new leader to boost a reputation sullied by the basketball scandal.

"Baylor has been given a black eye that will require a long time to heal," the regents said in a letter addressed to fellow regents. It was signed by former board chairman John Wilkerson, Carl Bell, Mary Chavanne-Martin, Toby Druin and Jaclanel McFarland.

Mr. Bell, a Dallas-based regent, said the letter was given to Dr. Sloan and Drayton McLane, the board's chairman.
