Hutchinson Returns with 'Get One Free' Cell-Phone Promotion in Thai Market.

Oct. 3--Hutchison CAT Wireless Multimedia has resumed its "buy one, get one free" promotion for one month in a bid to boost subscriber numbers for the Hutch CDMA mobile phone service.
Under the new campaign, customers purchasing a Sanyo SCP-550 handset for 8,900 baht will be eligible for an 8,900-baht discount on airtime charges for a new 18-month registration. Customers buying a Samsung SCH-A564 handset for 6,950 baht will receive 6,900 baht off airtime on a 12-month contract.
The company expects the one-month campaign to add an additional 100,000 to 200,000 new customers, said a Hutch executive who asked not to be named.
