Kanematsu Corp. Recalls Dumplings Imported from China.

Oct. 3--TOKYO--Kanematsu Corp. on Friday began recalling dumplings it has imported from China for containing a food additive banned in Japan, the trading firm said.

The additive, cyclamate, is prohibited under Japan's Food Sanitization Law.

The dumplings, produced by a Kanematsu affiliate in China's Liaoning Province, have been sold to Marudai Food Co. since 2001, Kanematsu said.

Marudai Food widened their sales in August 2002 when it began selling the products at supermarkets across the nation.

According to Kanematsu, the affiliate had guaranteed that the dumplings contain no additives prohibited under the Japanese Food Sanitation Law.
