U.K. Retailer Marks & Spencer Faces Pressure on Children's Clothing Sales.

Oct. 7--Marks & Spencer is under pressure to show that its children's clothing sales have turned the corner. Its second quarter trading update, due today, will show that the hot summer has taken its toll on women's fashion sales.
But analysts will be looking for evidence of a recovery in childrenswear, which had started to stabilise last quarter.
The retailer's shares rose 3 1/4 pence to 315 3/4 pence. Analysts reckon total clothing sales will be broadly flat for the three months, though the most optimistic forecast a rise of 2 percent. This compares to 3.9 percent growth in the previous quarter.
