Orange County, Fla., Proposed Transportation Tax Now in Voters' Hands.

Oct. 7--Dave Futrelle barely slowed for a breath Monday afternoon as he knocked on doors in a final attempt to win over residents who haven't decided whether to vote for a transportation tax on today's ballot.

"Most of them are ready for it," said Futrelle of Mobility 20/20, hoofing it between houses in the Lake Como neighborhood. "They're sick of having to wait in traffic."

Meanwhile, opponents of Orange County's proposed sales-tax increase stood on a street corner waving signs that urged voters to "Ax the Tax" and weaved through town in a small caravan of cars decorated with antitax slogans and American flags.
