Delivery Company DHL to Cut Seattle Jobs; Loss of 1,000 Positions Possible.

Oct. 10--Airborne jobs are flying away after all.

The Seattle-based delivery company, which was bought by rival DHL in August, might shed as many as 1,000 jobs here over the next year.

About 160 jobs at Airborne's Belltown headquarters, including marketing, personnel, finance and other operations, will move to DHL's offices in South Florida, the company said late yesterday. About 360 information technology jobs will move to DHL's IT center in Scottsdale, Fla., and the fate of 500 other jobs at the former headquarters in Seattle will be determined later, DHL said.
