Plano, Texas-Based Electronic Data Systems May Sell Stake in Software Unit.

Oct. 14--Electronic Data Systems Corp., hoping to quell speculation about its software unit's future, said Monday that it might sell a minority stake in the division.

Plano-based EDS plans to decide in the first half of 2004 whether to publicly or privately offer shares in its Product Lifecycle Management Solutions unit.

PLM Solutions will continue to work with its corporate parent on a few projects, but the software unit will behave as an independent company for the most part, said EDS spokesman John Clendening.

EDS declined to disclose which bankers were helping it explore the transaction because of the secrecy required in a private offering....
