Central Indiana Life Sciences Initiative Hones Its Message.

Oct. 15--When the Central Indiana Life Sciences Initiative on Tuesday announced its new name, BioCrossroads, and a marketing campaign, it pitted itself against numerous science-focused economic development efforts that dot the nation.
The challenge now is for the middle section of Indiana, stretching from Bloomington north to Lafayette, to set itself apart from all the rest.
Consider that 41 states are putting money into developing life sciences industries, according to a 2001 study by Battelle Memorial Institute, based in Columbus, Ohio.
Some of those efforts have come with much fanfare, such the Life Sciences Corridor in Michigan, which was launched...
