Sony's Artificially Intelligent Robot Makes Orange County, Calif., Debut.

Oct. 17--It sings, it kicks a soccer ball and it dances -- better than most people.

Qrio, a toddler-sized robot from Sony Corp., sashayed its shiny aluminum hips Wednesday night at the new Sony Style store in South Coast Plaza -- the robot's Orange County debut and its third U.S. appearance ever.

Qrio (pronounced "curio") isn't for sale, and Japan-based Sony has no plans to introduce its new artificially intelligent android in retail stores anytime soon. Besides, few buyers could stomach the price tag, if it had one: "the same as a luxury car," said Sony spokesman Jon Piazza.
