Oct. 17--HERITAGE PROPANE BUYS GEORGIA COMPANY: Heritage Propane Partners LP announced Thursday it has acquired the assets of Sunbeam LP Gas Inc. of Bremen, Ga., which serves about 2,100 customers in the market west of Atlanta.
Sunbeam was started in 1985 by Willard W. Whitton Sr., Willard W. Whitton Jr. and Van C. Kierbow. Willard Whitton Jr. and Kierbow will join Heritage, the Tulsa-based partnership said.
The Sunbeam deal marks the 70th acquisition for Heritage since becoming a publicly traded master limited partnership in June 1996 and the 100th acquisition since Heritage's formation in 1989.
Heritage is the nation's fourth-largest retail marketer of propane.
