Cadbury Schweppes to Close Two U.K. Factories with 555 Jobs at Stake.

Oct. 16--Following its UKpound 2.7 billion takeover of US chewing gum maker Adams, Cadbury Schweppes is making its first job cuts.
Its main UK business Cad-bury Trebor Bassett is to close two factories in Greater Manchester and Chesterfield with the loss of up to 555 jobs.
Production from Manchester, which makes Halls Mentholyptus and Soothers for sore throats, will move to the Americas.
Output of Chesterfield's Black Jacks and Fruit Salads will move to other UK plants.
The closures will take place by March 2005. Cadbury fell 8 pence to 377 pence.
