Aetna's Own Workers Get Higher Health Fees.

Oct. 18--Aetna Inc. workers are getting the same hard-to-swallow medicine other employers will soon announce to control rising health care costs next year.

The health insurer this week told employees they will pay a greater share of the total premiums in 2004, and that premiums are rising substantially -- 11 percent to nearly 68 percent in some cases.

In addition, changes in coverage could leave insured employees with thousands of dollars in medical bills.

Aetna, one of the Hartford region's largest employers, is taking the same steps as many other employers that are facing double-digit increases in medical expenses.
