Ticketmaster Rings Curtain down on Virginia Beach, Va., Sales Call Center.

Oct. 23--VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.--The world's biggest seller of sports and concert tickets is lowering the curtain on its Virginia Beach operation, idling nearly 600 workers.
Ticketmaster will shut the telephone customer service and sales center Dec. 18, according to a workplace closure notice filed with state officials.
The company is consolidating work into its other call centers as increasing numbers of ticket orders are placed over the Internet, reducing the need for telephone personnel.
The decision to close the center did not surprise an industry analyst.
