Seattle-Based Primus Knowledge Solutions Posts First Profit since Going Public.

Oct. 29--Seattle-based Primus Knowledge Solutions yesterday reported its first quarterly profit since going public, sending its stock up 44.2 percent to close at $3.46.
Primus, which went public in 1999, develops software that helps customers find answers without assistance. It reported $379,000, or 2 cents a share, on revenue of $7.1 million in the third quarter.
In the year-ago period, Primus lost $1.6 million or 8 cents a share on revenues of $6.1 million.
A combination of things led the company to profitability, said Michael Brochu, Primus' president and chief executive.
