Tokyo Gas Co. Reports Record Net Profit on Cool Summer.

Oct. 30--TOKYO--Tokyo Gas Co. reported Thursday a record group net profit on record revenues in the six months ended Sept. 30 due to a cool summer and the resulting surge in demand for heating gas.
The nation's biggest city gas provider said its group net profit rose 20.6 percent in the fiscal first half from a year earlier to 22.21 billion yen on a 6.6 percent gain in revenues to 505.13 billion yen.
Net profit per share was 8.10 yen, up from 6.57 yen a year earlier.
Group pretax profit rose 32.5 percent to 36.45 billion yen as cost-cutting measures helped buoy profitability.
