GE Selects Wilmington, N.C.-Area Site as Nuclear Energy Division Headquarters.

Oct. 31--WILMINGTON, N.C.--General Electric announced Thursday it will locate its nuclear energy global headquarters in Castle Hayne, bring 200 new jobs to the Wilmington area and commit $4 million to the expansion.
The announcement culminated lengthy negotiations between the company, Wilmington Industrial Development and the state. Gov. Mike Easley was on hand to announce a state grant to GE that may have sealed the deal.
GE's decision will help the local economy, the governor said, and also bodes well for a bright future for this part of the state.
