Aetna Confirms Layoffs of 30 Information Technology Workers.

Nov. 1--Aetna Inc. confirmed it laid off 30 employees in information technology Thursday and Friday, the result of a review of workers' skills.
Of the 30 Aetna Project Services employees, one was in Hartford, 24 in Middletown, and five in Pennsylvania, said company spokesman Fred Laberge.
Aetna Project Services has been going through a "skills assessment" of employees "to make sure the skill levels are matched to the work that needs to be done," Laberge said. The aim, he said, is "to create a more flexible workforce." Aetna last week had notified 32 workers in the quality assurance unit of IT, including 18 in Connecticut, that their jobs were being eliminated. That was...
