Nov. 2--Here's a news flash: Cable-TV companies behave a lot like monopolies -- at least that's the gist of a recent General Accounting Office report.

Now, Congress' watchdog agency didn't use the dreaded m-word. But that's what it sounded like in the GAO study, which described a world of high rates and limited choice.

Nationally, cable-television rates have risen 40 percent in the past five years, or more than three times the pace of inflation. In Orlando during the same period, the increase has been about 35 percent, for a current average price of $42 a month.
