Union Ends Pickets at Ralphs Grocery Stores in Southern California.

Nov. 1--Shoppers who have been supporting Southern California grocery workers in their labor dispute with the three major supermarket chains can now go to Ralphs free of guilt.

The United Food and Commercial Workers union said yesterday that it has ended picket lines at 249 Ralphs stores, about 30 of which are in San Diego County, because parent company Kroger had been the most amenable in earlier negotiations on a new contract.

About 18,000 Ralphs pickets, who remain locked out by the company, will be diverted by the union to lines in front of Albertsons and Vons stores and distribution centers.
