Granada Boss Under Pressure as ITV Gets Leader.

Nov. 6--Carlton man Sir Brian Pitman was yesterday put in charge of the new ITV, increasing the pressure on the television group's chief executive designate Charles Allen.

Allen, currently boss of Granada, which produces Coronation Street, is blamed by Carlton for failing to prevent the ousting of ITV chairman designate Michael Green after a shareholder rebellion last month.

Pitman, Carlton's senior non-executive director, has been named interim chairman. He is charged with finding a successor to Carlton founder Green.

But as a key supporter of Green, he may well choose someone prepared to knife Allen at a later date. Granada director Sir George Russell has been named...
