UTC Chief Affirms Earnings Forecast; Firm Sees Chance to Build Up Chubb PLC.

Nov. 6--United Technologies Corp.'s chief financial officer reaffirmed the company's earnings forecast Wednesday and offered insight into UTC's approach to its newest acquisition, Chubb PLC.
Stephen Page told analysts at a Goldman, Sachs conference in New York that Hartford-based UTC would look to cut costs and boost operating efficiency at Chubb before trying to build on its new security-services base with acquisitions. That could change, he said, if the right opportunity came along.
As an example of likely cost cutting, Page said, Chubb has three customer call centers in England and sister company Otis Elevator has just one.
