Biotechnology Winners Show Investors Big Potential.

Nov. 10--In the hot area of biotechnology investment, the chief recipients of venture capital in the third quarter would seem at first to have little in common.
For instance, the fund-raising leader in New England was GenPath Pharmaceuticals Inc. of Cambridge, which took in $42.7 million to develop genetic-based cancer therapies. Other recipients included Coley Pharmaceutical Group of Wellesley Hills, which produces drugs to bolster the immune system (it got $35 million), and OmniSonics Medical Technologies Inc. of Wilmington, which makes ultrasonic surgical devices (recipient of $26 million).
But some specialists do see a pattern in the rankings shown in the Money...
