Wal-Mart Puts the Squeeze on Winn-Dixie.

Nov. 9--Jacqueline Clay, a 47-year-old mother and equipment assembler from Orlando, is the kind of supermarket customer Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. is after.

She collects coupons, scans advertised specials and loves to get a bargain when she buys groceries. And, best of all, she considers herself a loyal Winn-Dixie shopper.

"I've been coming to Winn-Dixie for years," she said last week while pushing a cart to her blue minivan from the store on East Colonial Drive. "They have the best meat department around."

But Clay is also quick to add that her loyalty to the Jacksonville-based supermarket chain stretches only so far. Better prices and more...
