Connecticut Defense Contractors Score Victory in $401 Billion Defense Bill.

Nov. 13--WASHINGTON-- he $401 billion defense spending plan approved 95-3 by the U.S. Senate Wednesday includes billions of dollars for weapons systems important to Connecticut contractors and their workers.

It does not include restrictive "Buy American" language, fiercely opposed by large aerospace and high technology companies, that was in the measure initially passed by the House.

After difficult negotiations between House and Senate conferees, the House adopted the compromise version Friday. It now goes to President Bush for his expected signature.
